Overview
Static damage is rarely dramatic. A module works, then intermittently does not, and nothing in the logs explains it. A grounding strap is the cheapest habit that removes that whole category of problem from your bench.
This is a corded strap, not one of the wireless bracelets sold under the same name. It has an adjustable fabric band that closes with hook-and-loop, a conductive inner face, and a detachable grounding lead that attaches at a metal snap stud on the band — so the lead comes off when you are not working and the band alone can be washed or stored.
